Selecting a Clickbank winner

Affiliate marketing is one of the most amazing money-making opportunities in the online world. Send people to an affiliate link, let the product creator take care of all the hard stuff like customer service, and collect a cut of the profits.

ClickBank is full of products you can promote. It's free, and it's falling-off-a-log easy to use your affiliate link.

But not all products are created equal. How to do you pick a ClickBank product that will make you money? The formula is simple.

First, find a product with a great sales page. If you're referring people to a sales page that couldn't sell heaters to Eskimos, you won't make a dime. Look for nice layout, good use of subheadlines, and benefit-focused copy.

Second, search the ClickBank Marketplace. You're looking for a product which isn't so popular you'll be squeezed out by other people promoting it, but popular enough to be in demand. Here are your basic criteria:

  • ClickBank "gravity" between 50 and 100 — this is popular, but not crazy competitive.
  • A commission amount over roughly $20 — it's tough to make money if the commission amount isn't at least that much.
  • Probably listed low on the first page of ClickBank for a given category, and maybe even on page two.
  • Google some relevant keywords and see if more than a couple ads on the first page or two point to the sales page for this product — if so, move on to one less saturated.

That's all there is to it. You'll have to use your judgment, of course. Is a product with a gravity of 125.0 and a commission amount of $33 better than a product with a gravity of 75.0 and a commission amount of $25? There's no way to know aside from launching promotion campaigns for both and picking the winner.

But this simple strategy should help you find likely ClickBank winners.
